Every Plant Tells a Story
Nature does not create perfection, it creates character. We celebrate these natural details, because they make every plant beautifully one of a kind.
Tillandsia araujei is a striking air plant native to Brazil's high-altitude regions. It features thick, rigid, pine needle-like leaves in bright green, with a distinctive long stem that branches into clusters over time. The plant produces beautiful salmon-to-rose coloured flowers with white petals, typically blooming in May and June.
Can place indoors, place near a bright window with good air flow. Outdoors, it thrives in bright, indirect light, under trees, verandahs, decks, or shadehouses work well. This species tolerates cool temperatures but must be protected from frost. Hang upside down to encourage the plant to curl naturally towards light.
Mount on non-water-retaining surfaces like timber or cork bark using coated wire, fishing line, or adhesives (silicone, hot glue, or no-more nails). Never cover the base with moss or substrate—this causes rot. Good air flow is essential for drying between waterings.
In warm spots, water every 2–3 days. In cooler, humid conditions, once weekly is usually enough. Mist or dunk for 10–20 minutes, then shake off excess water. Let the plant dry completely between waterings. Never allow water to pool at the base.
