Tillandsia Barborkae is a beautiful hanging air plant that grows up to about 20 cm long. It has stiff, wide leaves arranged in a rosette pattern with a rusty, scaly texture and sharp pointed tips. Each leaf reaches around 10 cm in length.
This plant puts on a real show when it flowers, producing lots of bright red blooms about 2.5 cm across. The flower spike branches into 1–3 sections and can have up to 20 flowers, usually staying shorter than the leaves. The red bracts (leaf-like structures) around the flowers are quite prominent and create a stunning display. When the flowers open, they form a bell shape with petals that spread slightly apart. After flowering, the plant develops small brown seed pods.
