Tillandsia barfussii is a rare air plant native to the mountainous regions of Central Paraguay. This stemless variety forms an upright rosette of approximately 20 narrow, triangular leaves with a distinctive dull grey appearance.
The plant produces upright flower spikes with striking two-toned bracts—dark green at the base transitioning to flesh-red at the tips. Delicate white petals emerge during blooming, creating an elegant display. Leaves measure 16–18 cm long and 2–2.4 cm wide at the base. The plant typically reaches 10–15 cm in height when flowering.
A collector's favourite for experienced Tillandsia enthusiasts, this species thrives in bright, indirect light and prefers regular misting. Allow to dry between waterings. Best suited to well-ventilated spaces away from direct heat sources.
