Every Plant Tells a Story

Tillandsia gardneri var. rupicola is a striking air plant native to South America. It features delicate, feathery white foliage that fans out symmetrically, paired with soft pastel pink tubular flowers. The plant readily self-pollinates and produces abundant seed pods—its primary method of reproduction in nature.
This species thrives outdoors in bright, indirect light. Place it under a tree, on a verandah, deck, or in a shadehouse where air can flow freely. It prefers cooler temperatures and good humidity. Mount or suspend on non-water-retaining surfaces like timber or cork bark using wire, fishing line, or silicone adhesive. Never cover the base with moss. Protect from frost but avoid indoor conditions.
Water every 2–3 days in hot positions; once weekly in cooler, humid spots. Mist or dunk for 10–20 minutes, then shake off excess. Air plants must dry completely between waterings. Never allow water to pool at the base, as this causes rot. This species is rot-prone if kept too moist.
Expect blooms in December (summer).
