Tillandsia juncifolia is an attractive air plant with greener leaves and larger stolons than its juncea parent. Foliage turns bronze-red in bright light or full sun. Native to South and Central America, Mexico, and the West Indies, this hardy species grows long, thin, upright grey-green foliage with a brown base. It produces a tall purple flower spike, then forms multiple offsets to create a nice clump.

Perfect for beginners. Indoors, place near a bright window with good air flow. Outdoors, this plant thrives in bright, indirect sunlight under trees, verandahs, decks, or shadehouses. It tolerates low temperatures but must be protected from frost. Mount on non-water-retaining surfaces like timber or cork bark using wire, fishing line, or silicone adhesive. Never cover the base with moss.

Water every 2–3 days in hot positions; once weekly in cool, humid spots. Mist or dunk for 10–20 minutes, then shake off excess water. Air plants must dry completely between waterings. Never let water sit at the base—this causes rot.
